Dedicated to healing through integrated practice and precision medicine.
Philosophy
The Functional Clinic is rooted in optimizing health through a whole-systems approach. We believe that the human body communicates through a series of interconnected networks, and our health is only as strong as our weakest link. The only way to achieve optimal health is to create harmony among our different bodily systems. We also recognize that every body has a story to tell, and we listen with the intent to heal. By combining each client’s unique history with precise data from advanced diagnostic tests, we create targeted treatment plans utilizing natural medicine. This form of “precision medicine” allows us to restore balance and support the body’s innate ability to heal itself.
The 5 Pillars of Health
While many of our clients have a single primary complaint, further investigation often reveals broader patterns of dysfunction—typically affecting multiple systems at once. Conventional medicine often treats each bodily system in isolation, yet it’s common for people with gut issues to also struggle with migraines, depression, insomnia, or other (seemingly unrelated) concerns. At The Functional Clinic, we address the five main pillars of health simultaneously to promote deeper sleep, enhanced recovery, improved mood and energy, a sharper mind, and optimal digestion - all while prioritizing optimal body composition and overall metabolic health.
-
Healthy digestion looks like 1–2 daily bowel movements per day, minimal bloating or gas, no acid reflux or indigestion, and proper nutrient absorption. Stress, infections, and toxins can disrupt these processes, but we work to restore balance and optimize gut health.
-
Optimal energy relies on healthy mitochondria, balanced hormones, and steady blood sugar. Stress, poor sleep, nutrient deficiencies, or toxin exposures can drain energy, but we address these root causes to support energy that lasts all day.
-
Restorative sleep depends on a a healthy day-night cycle (circadian rhythms, cortisol levels, hormones. We address common issues like difficulty falling asleep, waking up during the night, or feeling tired in the morning by correcting underlying causes, helping you get the rest your body needs.
-
Brain fog, memory loss, poor focus, and mental health issues like anxiety and depression can often stem from an inflamed brain, chronic stress, or brain injuries like TBIs or concussions. By addressing these root causes, we support mental clarity, emotional balance, and optimal cognitive function.
-
Healthy metabolism starts at the cellular level. Weight loss resistance, insulin resistance, blood sugar imbalances, and unhealthy cholesterol levels all stem from how effectively the cell burns food for energy. We focus on optimizing cellular function to restore balance and support healthy metabolic processes.
Chronic symptoms or illnesses develop slowly over time. Environmental, genetic, and lifestyle factors all play a role in gradual physical and mental dysfunction. Often, people adapt to small discomforts, eventually forgetting what optimal health feels like. We often seek help when our symptoms are so disruptive to our daily life that they become impossible to ignore. At a time where dis-ease is becoming more and more acceptable, prioritizing our health is a radical act of self-care, but it is an act we owe to ourselves.
